I have been observing from this week’s phone calls that trend might be emerging in the bay area.
Bentgrass
It's now being asked for by home owners as their lawn of choice. Some of these customers proceed online to research its qualities. We here at Fresno sod very seldom sell Bentgrass to homeowners unless it is to create a putting green for their own yard. This got me to considering, what might the main reason be. Campaigning, who's telling people this is a good home lawn for CA. Perhaps the lawn maintenance person who takes care of your lawn would like to have a few more weekly hours in your yard because of its high upkeep characteristics. Then in one case there was a friend who recommended it after putting in their own yard. Very nice, the weather is cool enough presently, but during out blistering summer heat stretches, this poor lawn will require much more water than a traditional fescue lawn. Higher water bills later on for you also. So unless you have the utmost desire to be totally dedicated to your lawn and its needs, perhaps we are able to help you select a type of lawn better modified for your lifestyle. I've left a link here to those fantastic geniuses at UC Davis whom have already filtered out the characteristics of Bentgrass. Feel free to have a look at it on your own.
